Working with Spreadsheet Files

Displaying Different Worksheets Side by Side

In other tips, we’ve told you how to split your workbook window, so you can display different parts of a single worksheet at the same time. We’ve also told you how to open two or more workbook files and tile the workbook windows, so you can display different workbooks at the same time.

What do you do if you want to display different worksheets from the same workbook at the same time? This:

  1. Open the workbook and select New Window from the Window menu. Excel opens a second copy of the workbook.

  2. Select Arrange from the Window menu.

  3. In the Arrange Windows dialog box, select Tiled. If other workbook files are open and you don’t want to include them, check the Windows of active workbook box.

  4. Click OK.

The two workbook windows now appear side by side. To display a different worksheet in either of the windows, click the tab for the sheet you want to display. (Posted 09/23/2000)
